DMB ZIPS Projection Database Utility
Diamond Mind Baseball has created a free utility program to help you use both versions of the 2015 ZIPS Projection Database, the initial version of the ZIPS Projection released in the Spring of 2015 and the All Star version released in late July 2015. Here is the scenario in which this utility should be used.
You have been playing the 2015 MLB season, day by day, using the initial ZIPS Projection database accumulating player and team stats. Now, with the All Star Zips update, you want to continue to play out the 2015 season with the new updated player event tables and ratings AND keep your accumulated stats. To do this you need to use the free utility program as described below.

Make sure that Diamond Mind Baseball is shut down before using this utility!
In 2015, Diamond Mind Baseball produced two sets of player projections, one at the start of the season and one shortly after the All-Star Break. With an additional half season of play to analyze, many players have revised ratings, projections, and event tables. There were also some new players who did not get rated in the first release but who have since seen time on their parent club. Those new players have been included on the second set of projections.
We realize that many of you have been using the initial projections to play along with the real-life season or have set up draft leagues. Some of you have asked for a way to continue your leagues but with the new set of player ratings yet retain all of the stats and results that have been accumulated so far. This utility will enable you to do that..
Before you update your league's player projections, we STRONGLY encourage you to first exit this utility by clicking on the 'Finished' button, start up Diamond Mind Baseball, and make a backup of your league's database. This is the league you've been playing using the player projections from the start of the real-life season. While in your league's database folder, go to the File menu and choose Backup. Enter a name for your league's backup file and click on the Save button. This will make a backup of your league as it stands at that moment. In the very unlikely event that something were to go wrong while running this utility, you'll be able to start DMB back up, go to the File menu, choose the Restore option, select the backup file you just created, and click on Open. After you confirm that you want to replace the database with the backup, you'll be back to exactly where you were in your season when you made the backup.
To use this utility properly, in step two you need to first select the season database folder for your league that you've been playing using the first release of the 2015 player projections. Next, at step three, select the season database folder where you installed the new, 2015 mid-season database. After you have selected the two projection database folders, click on the 'Copy new player ratings' button. This utility will then copy all new ratings, projections, and event tables from the new 2015 player project season folder to the players in the first release of the 2015 player projections. In addition, all new players in the mid-season release will get added to the initial release of the 2015 player projections as free agents. No statistics or game results will be lost. You will then be able to continue your league exactly where it was left off.
After this utility reports that the operation was successful, you can continue to update other first release, 2015 projection season folders by selecting different folders or if you're done, click on the 'Finished' button.
Here is a screenshot of a typical setup of how you would use this utility for the scenario described in the opening paragraphs. We are assuming that you retained the default file locations when installing both ZIPS Projection databases. If you did not, you will need to change the folder locations to match those that you have used on your system.
